How to read this
- Reach is a count of sites, not of readers, requests or data, and it describes the moment before the visitor interacts. It says nothing about what the operator does with a request, nor whether it is lawful.
- Operators are named as in our classification list. Subsidiaries and brands of the same group are not merged (for example “Microsoft” and “Microsoft (Xandr)” are separate rows), so a group's real reach can be higher than its largest row. Our list is limited, so every figure is a minimum.
- Inferred marks operators whose every entry was identified from general knowledge of the vendor and not verified one by one (see the limits).
- “On its sites it ran scripts on…” counts the sites where that kind of activity was seen, taken from the measured request log; what these things mean on your computer.
- Only sites measured with high or medium confidence are in the denominator. Sites that refused the automated browser are listed under not measured; they may well contact more.
- The download entities.csv has these rows. Each site's page lists the operators behind its own count.
